The Beginning
Orville is A Burrowing Owl, who, no pun intended, lived a normal life Burrowing owls normally lived. He would wake up and hunt and eat insects. On a good day Orville would gobble down a feast of juicy beetles, a hoard of flies along with the occasion worm or grasshopper. Unlike other owls, burrowing owls are active during the day. You would normally find Orville perched near his burrow or on a fence posts or up his favorite tree.
Every now and then Orville would make a tremulous chuckling or chattering call. He would also bob his head to express excitement or distress.
One morning while Orville was asleep in his cozy burrow a very bad storm approached. The clouds turned a charcoal black and the sky became a dark place. Lightning occasionally danced through the rain filled sky followed by the familiar thunder cracking and ripping through the air.
Orville awoke to a big booming bang! He ran to the entrance of his burrow, terrified his big yellow eyes focused through the heavy pouring rain onto a twisting cloud in the next field, the cloud was ripping up the ground and lifting up trees and throwing them into the air! It was heading right for Orville.
He screamed and chattered and ran back down into his burrow, but something was pulling him out. He tried to hold on but it was no good the black twisty cloud had got him.
